Today the garden group has been busy.

We tidied the leaves and planted our rowan tree which we received from BBC Breathing Places.

We enjoy time with our reading buddies!

Let’s Go Planting Trees!

It’s not long now until our next citizenship morning (16th November) and what a morning it is going to be! We have been given a rowan tree by BBC Breathing Places and next week we should receive a hedge pack from the Woodland Trust. Sounds easy? Well, the hedge pack contains thirty trees which all need to be planted! So find your wellies, and make sure you eat your porridge because you will be needing lots of energy!

What Happened Before

My name is Asebech I’m nine years old.

I do a lot of work in one day; I have to wake up at 6.30am. I have to collect cold water. The nearest place I can get water from is six tiring miles away. I have to carry a big heavy bottle to the river. I can hear the rushing cold water. It’s quite busy at the river. I quickly fill my jug and head off.

The hot, bright, yellow, shining sun beams over me I get hotter and hotter. I’ve got two more miles to go and I have to keep on going. I can almost taste the water in my mouth even though I don’t have any in my mouth.

The cold heavy water keeps me cool.

I can see my small weak house just along the dusty dirty road. I think to myself it’s not long till I get back. It’s not much trouble for you to get water but it is for me. I can feel my back getting sore but I’m nearly home. I can smell the soft green warm grass.

I can now see the busy school kids rushing about. I wish that I was down there but we can’t afford the expensive school maybe one day will go if we get some money

Sense Poem

I see the mountains standing tall,

The trees swaying like a swing,

The blue, clear sky,

The children running rapidly on the sandy, dusty road,

I hear the birds singing and squawking,

The children talking and laughing,

The water trickling from the tap,

The parents talking to one another,

I smell the sand mixed with the dry mud,

The flowers smell of perfume,

The dust tickling my nose,

I touch the bucket hard and square,

The water warm on my skin,

The sandy road rough and dry,

The sun roasting hot burning on my skin,

I taste the warm water,

The dust floating to my mouth,

The water warm but refreshing.
