The Christmas Fayre will also offer fund raising opportunities.

The Sponsored walk and table top sale/car boot to be considered for the spring.

If for any reason the fashion show can’t be held, consideration would be given to having a bingo or quiz night.

Parent council members and any other willing volunteers are asked to be at the hall at 5pm on Saturday 31st to help with decorating the hall and other preparations

Christmas Fayre

Charlotte attended a meeting at the Village Hall regarding the Christmas Fayre, she explained the details of the meeting and what assistance and involvement has been requested from the Parent Council and School

3rd December 2009 – Hall decoration, Parent Council volunteers required. The time to be confirmed.

4th December 2009 – Switch on of lights and Carol singing by the children at 7pm.

Robert will provide song sheets and Barbara will decorate two donation buckets.

Robert will hold a draw at school to decide which pupil to switch on the lights.

5th December 2009 Christmas fayre. The parent council will have a stall at a cost of £12. We will produce various arts/crafts and foods to sell.

A basic timetable was also drawn up for staffing of the kitchen, stall and waitressing.

Christmas Panto

The annual visit to the panto at Eden Court was discussed several alternatives were suggested. Members suggested a travelling puppet show, a visit to the Reindeer Centre at Aviemore, a visit to the cinema.

It was decided that the following options be put to the children so that they could decide.

Eden Court pantomime

Reindeer Centre

Cinema

Those parents present stated that they would provide transport regardless of the event chosen.

 HMIe Inspection

Robert Quigley then explained the inspection visit. It will be conducted by one inspector and one lay inspector. The inspectors to arrive on Monday afternoon and conclude the inspection on Thursday afternoon.

Parents will get the opportunity to meet the inspectors on Tuesday afternoon.

AOB

Robert Quigley stated that the school required a projector in advance of the forthcoming inspection. He explained that he had acquired one but the fitting charge would be in excess of £400 and requested Parent Council assistance with this cost. It was agreed that the Parent Council would contribute towards this cost at a future date.

Charlotte asked if a petty cash box could be purchased at a cost of around £15. This was agreed.

Shona Crawford if asked there might be any interest in belly dancing class. She would run the class for around £2 per session and any surplus funds would go to the Parent Council.  Level of interest to be gauged.

The chair then spoke about the location and timings of meetings and the position of secretary. The meeting held at 3.15pm at the school was not terribly successful because the children who were playing outside were also disturbing the staff who were trying to do their prep.

However, Angela is no longer able to attend evening meetings and can therefore not continue as secretary. Angela put out an email asking for a volunteer to take on the secretarys role, she did not get any response to this request.

As a possible solution it was therefore suggested that meetings could be held in the village hall on alternative afternoon/evenings and that children could attend with parents and bring toys etc to keep them amused.

There maybe a small charge for the hall,  Mr Quigley stated the school would pay the small fee.

It was agreed trial this venue.

The next meeting will be held in the afternoon at the hall in mid November. Date to be confirmed.
