PARENT COUNCIL NEWS-8TH SEPTEMBER 2009

The new parent council held their first meeting in the school last week. We are delighted to have two newcomers on board and as a result we have now reached the heady heights of 9 members. We’d like to offer Shona & Jo a very warm welcome and hope that more of you will follow their lead and join us for our meetings.

Our next meeting will be held at 7pm on Monday 28th September  when we will be discussing Fundraising & the Halloween Party.

At our meeting last week it was decided that from now on all Parent Council business will be published on the school blog and on the parent council notice board inside the school. This will include the meeting dates, the agenda & the minutes. You are all welcome to access the information at any time.

We will no longer be sending this information home with every child. 

However we will still notify you individually of forthcoming events and any specific arrangements for the events.

The parent council also discussed a change to the children’s usual pantomime visit at Christmas. Some alternative suggestions were made as follows:

A ride on the funicular to the top of Cairngorm, Dingwall Players Pantomime, A travelling theatre group visiting us, No outing but an upgrade to the Christmas party instead i.e.. face painting & possibly a clown or similar, A visit to the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre, Strathspey Steam Railway, The panto at Aviemore Macdonald Hotel, Strathpeffer Pavillion.

Finally, but probably most importantly,  by now you should all have received a ‘Lucky Numbers’ entry form. Lucky numbers runs annually and is our major fundraiser for the children & the school. Without the income from lucky numbers our children would not be able to enjoy & benefit from the many outings & events that the parent council organise & support. We urge you all to join our lucky numbers club & ask you to encourage your friends & relatives to do the same.

Lucky numbers entry costs £12.00 for a year, this is just £1.00 per month – less than the cost of a 2 litre container of milk. You never know, you might just have the winning number, there are two cash prizes to be won every month  !
